A lot of that has to do with the introduction of the iPhone 12+ years ago. The iPhone’s GPS beacon gave birth to a whole new generation of consumer applications that enabled contextual experiences based on location. Uber, Lyft, Yelp, Google and the like all help us make decisions about where to eat, which route to take and how to find a ride home.
